BlackVue just released new 4K and Full HD Cloud-compatible dash cams.
Most models are updates of existing ones, albeit with better image quality overall. However, there is also a completely new model–DR970X-2CH LTE–that combines 4K UHD recording and built-in LTE connectivity in a compact package.

All in all, accounting for all versions, that’s over a dozen new models to choose from so to we are summarizing their features below.

Features common to all the new models

  • New image signal processor (ISP) tuning: the dynamic range and overall fidelity has been improved across the board through expert optimization of a new chipset. In simple terms: the image looks better, especially at night and in high-contrast scenes where most cameras struggle to preserve detail in highlights and dark areas.
  • Wi-Fi connectivity: allows you to view and transfer video footage wirelessly via the BlackVue app.
  • Seamless Pairing: BlackVue’s hassle-free way of connecting to your dash cam with the BlackVue App. Secure, yet without the need to enter passwords or scan QR codes.
  • GPS logging: records location and speed data, which can be displayed on the video footage and on a map in the app or viewer.
  • Native Parking Mode: monitors your vehicle when parked and automatically records any incidents or impacts, all while protecting your vehicle’s battery thanks to the built-in voltage monitor (including for the LTE models). Hardwiring cable included, along with 12V auxiliary power adapter.
  • Event and motion detection: automatically detects and records events such as collisions, sudden braking, and acceleration.
  • Event File Protection: preserve the last 50 Event videos at all times so you always have time to retrieve important footage without it getting overwritten.
  • Adaptive Format-Free File Management: this BlackVue-developed file system improves recording stability and requires less microSD card formatting.
  • SD Card Failure Alert: even the best microSD cards can fail over time. To avoid bad surprises, BlackVue lets you know instantly (and continuously) with a “Please check SD card” voice alert.
  • Cloud compatibility: allows you to access and manage video footage remotely via the free BlackVue Cloud service (requires data plan).
  • Sub-stream technology: play back your footage instantly over Wi-Fi or the Cloud. BlackVue dash cams save “quick play” versions of the videos alongside the original high resolution footage.

Instead of new stuff make the existing stuff work properly, & that particularly applies to the abortion you call a mobile app!

It's a disgusting mess - & every update it gets worse !!

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience and distress caused by this update. An update (should be 3.42) is coming out (expected next week). It will add:
- a Guest access mode (direct Wi-Fi access without login requirement to access the camera and the downloaded videos).
- The Camera tab will be the new default tab.
- The developers are also working on improving the loading speed of the tabs.
- All in all, it should make it faster than ever before to access one's dashcam over Wi-Fi or Cloud for logged-in users, while still providing options for users who don't want to create an account and users with an account but no internet access.
- The Event Map auto-sharing option will be removed altogether, in order to avoid accidentally sharing videos. Users will only be able to pick and add videos manually.

Thank you.

► Why have you prevented users from installing earlier versions of the app, versions that were found to be less aweful... ?

Every update imposes more restrictions (aka control) over users!
