DVR-207GS Can we import H.264 .avi files to iPad via SD kit?

I read the DVR-207GS records in H.264 .avi files.

Does anyone happen to know if the format is compatible with iMovie (or any other apps) on an iPad via the Camera Connection Kit SD Card Reader?

h.264 yes, but not sure about .avi containers!

I talked a friend into buying the DVR-207GS, but he's one of those people that doesn't have a computer. (iPhone & iPad only)

I have tried it (using a cheapo camera connection kit, not the official one) but I couldn't get it to work

The manual for the connection kit says that the SD card must have a folder called DCIM on it, which contains all your movies. I'm guessing the dash cam doesn't have this and that if you tried creating it, it might not record, but I'm not sure.

I also tried connecting it using USB. The cam turns on when connected, but again doesn't appear in any way on the ipad.
